Bowl For Kids’ Sake

The popular fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo, Bowl For Kids’ Sake, returned to The Alley YMM on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The event rolled a perfect strike, raising a little over $30,000 in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters life‑changing mentorship programs for young people in Wood Buffalo.

Though Bowl For Kids’ Sake in its current form is in its fifth year, the event traces its roots to the early 1980s when it was known as “Bowling for Millions”, and it continues to bring together teams of friends, family, coworkers to raise donations and celebrate with a day of bowling and great vibes, supporting free mentoring programs for young people across the Wood Buffalo region, including Fort McMurray, Fort Chipewyan, Anzac, Conklin, and Janvier. 

Executive Director Hanna Fridhed emphasized the importance of mentorship and the tremendous impact of the funds raised. “Big Brothers Big Sisters has been changing lives in this community for almost fifty years, and Bowl For Kids’ Sake is a huge reason we can continue to offer these important programs and services, ensuring that every young person who needs a mentor has one,” she said.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo is committed to providing free mentoring programs that connect young people with positive role models. With a variety of programs including One-on-One Mentoring, Corporate Mentoring, Crafty Kids, Full Circle, Game On, Go Girls, Ignite, PRISM, and Teen Mentoring, the organization continues to positively influence the emotional, social, and physical well being of local youth.
