Fort McMurray, AB [October 18, 2024] — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo (BBBSWB) is excited to announce the appointment of Hanna Fridhed-Campbell as their new Executive Director. Hanna brings a wealth of experience and passion for youth mentorship that aligns perfectly with BBBSWB’s mission to ignite the power and potential of young people in the region.
Hanna succeeds Julie Penney, who served as Executive Director until her resignation in August 2024. The Board and Staff extend their heartfelt gratitude to Julie for her dedication and leadership during her tenure, wishing her the best of luck as she embarks on her new adventure back on the East Coast.
“The Board was diligent in our search for new leadership, and we are thrilled to welcome Hanna to the team,” says Trevor Butler, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Her passion for mentorship potential and community engagement will be crucial as we continue to expand our programs for the youth in Wood Buffalo.”
Since 1979, the organization has matched over 6,000 young people with caring mentors. Their diverse programs, ranging from their 1:1 Mentorship Matching to their group programs, empower children and youth to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
“I am excited to join Big Brothers Big Sisters of Wood Buffalo, an organization dedicated to not only supporting youth, but empowering them to reach their full potential,” Hanna states. “Together with the knowledgeable and passionate team, I look forward to building brighter futures for the young people in our region, one meaningful connection at a time.”
BBBSWB looks forward to building on their success under Hanna’s leadership, addressing the growing demand for mentoring services in the region.
